Systematic Transformation
The CHES Method
Systematic Transformation is required to correct dysfunctional system dynamics created by applying principals of “piecemeal change” when principals of systemic change are necessary. Systematic transformation is needed if a paradigm change is desired for any system redesign. Conversion requires a substantial difference in how a system functions, how it is designed and how it is managed. Therefore, whole-system transformation seeks organizational reinvention rather than change by replication of best practices. – Dr. Francis Duffy
The Rational for Systematic Transformation: Institutional Bias, Racism and Discrimination
Systematic racism is responsible for cultural, systemic and economic barriers which have resulted in distrusting attitudes and the lack of value in seeking and completing mental health services among individuals residing in vulnerable communities. Necessary to reduce institutional barriers and reduce health, education and economic disparity health and human services must undergo systematic transformation to simultaneously impact the individual, cultural, systemic and financial barriers that impede community well-being. Wheatley Institute offers its Continuum of Health and Education System approach to increase equity of opportunity for aspiring community stakeholder groups.
Pursuing the Continuum of Healthcare and Education System (CHES) results:
- Increase access to community-led, fully integrated Primary Behavioral Healthcare allowing Family Practitioners to work closer with children and their families.
- Establishes a community-based continuum of systems delivering prevention and early intervention services that interact positively and proactively with mental health and education systems.
- Shifts pre-K-12 education from Industrial-Age Instruction into the Knowledge-Age paradigm of student-centered teaching and learning.
- Replaces a range of institutional stigma’s establishing a community-led stakeholder oversight committee to monitor continuing improvements, emerging innovations, funding, and services delivery outcomes.
